The art and craft of engraving

Come and discover the exhibition by the artist Abraham Bosse at the Jean Calvin Museum and the Galerie du Chevalet (Noyon) from 19 May to 20 September 2026.

From 19 May to 20 September 2026, the Jean Calvin Museum and the Galerie du Chevalet in Noyon are presenting an exhibition dedicated to Abraham Bosse (1604–1676), one of the greatest French engravers of the 17th century. This exhibition invites the public to discover the fascinating world of an artist who, better than anyone else, was able to capture in images the social life and arts of his time. Born into a Calvinist family, he became a fully-fledged member of the circle of official artists at the court of the King of France.

Through a display of over forty works, the exhibition reveals Abraham Bosse’s technical precision and sharp eye for the society of his time: artists’ studios, bourgeois interiors, moral allegories and scenes of daily life.
