Simone Monvert, Journal of Police Assistants, 1935–1940

An exhibition organised by the Society for the History of French Protestantism, from 18 February to 30 July 2026 (Wednesday to Friday, 9.30am to 5.30pm), 54 Rue des Saints Pères (75007 Paris)

The exhibition explores the role of the first female police officers in the Paris Police Prefecture: from their training at Pastor Doumergue’s School of Practical Social Work to their integration into the police force. The diary recounts the adventures of these pioneers who helped bring women into a profession traditionally reserved for men.

Simone Montvert’s diary (1904–1944) forms part of the Montvert family archives donated to the Société d’histoire du protestantisme français in 2018. This exhibition will also reveal the full richness of this family collection spanning over a century.

From 18 February to 30 July 2026 (Wednesday to Friday, 9.30am to 5.30pm)
